Yes, that's a very productive use of AI. We cannot shun it away. That is a mistake that we will pay for in the future.

I believe it would be worth mentioning this to the sam harris people. See what may come of it. If nothing, then an effort can be made to create this regardless. It is well worth the effort and is much needed. The neutral moderator is essential for transcending duality and up there is where we have to see if we want to find our way out of the storm.

The distinction between curiosity about new frontiers vs. tolerating banality is so necessary. Thank you for naming that false gotcha.

That’s it.

Yes.

I also checked your profile and I believe you are someone who cares about real connection and community.

So I wanted to share the Mseli ritual with you.

It involves you and a Substack friend sending each other one short daily message (via Substack messages) about how you're doing, so you both stay updated on each other's lives.

For days you don't know what to say, you can use generic check ins such as: Weather (It's sunny, it's rainy, it's hot, it's Cold etc.), Feeling, ( I am good, I am tired, I am happy etc.), Day (Long day, busy day, quiet day etc.)

The messages start with M: to signify they don’t need a reply and are just a simple way to stay connected. For example: M: Feeling good, M: Travelling, M: A very rainy day.

60+ Substackers have already joined the ritual. Our goal is to build a culture of using the internet to check up on each other instead of just consuming content.

If you'd like to join, just comment and we can start.

That is very generous of you but I don’t feel called to participate in that dynamic. Thank you.

You are welcome

This is a really insightful, thorough reflection of the proposed system. Thank you for sharing it. Im intrigued by this. The consistency of regulation within the immaterial plane that is, The Internet, is difficult to maintain.

I can see an effort in starting a culture of "1v1" Livestream debate/discussion as being a way to retain consistency. If there were a way to easily begin a discussion/debate, announce it, moderate it, a section for laying out the terms of debate. The human, face to face aspect must be integrated for regulation to be maintained, for sincerity, trust, courage, community to flourish. This culture would bring out the new thinkers from obscurity and give them a platform to truly challenge and define their voice with no place to hide.

I’ve been interested in doing that and even employing AI moderation and transcoding, so that when someone says something complex or convoluted the AI can be consulted to unravel it or simplify it and the person can be asked if they agree with the simplification; this would reduce rhetoric fuelled digression and serve the outcome of the debate/discussion.

It could be otherwise hosted on Riverside or Zoom or twitch and the AI feed added done for the speakers and the audience.
